Dr. Michael Kennedy
MMedSc FRCGP MICGP FFSEM DCH DOccMed DFM
I am a General Practitioner working in Buttevant, Co Cork since 1997, when I joined my parents Dr Finnbarr Kennedy and Mrs Mary Kennedy, practice nurse and manager, who established our Family Practice in 1967. I qualified from UCC in 1988. In 1991, I obtained a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In 1992 I obtained my memberships in the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) and the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP). In 1992 I obtained a Certificate in Family Planning (FPC) from the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
In 1999 I obtained a Masters Degree in Medical Science in Sports & Exercise Medicine (MMedSc) from University College Cork. In 2002 I received a Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DOccMed) from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians. In 2003 I received a Fellowship of Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FFSEM), of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland & the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. In 2008 I obtained a Diploma in Forensic & Legal Medicine (DFM) from University College Dublin. In 2014 I received Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners (FRCGP).
I am a third generation General Practitioner and am married with three children. I enjoy my hobbies of Crossfit and Cycling and am a member of the local Parish Council.
In addition I am the Coroner for the North Cork Area and Secretary of the local Faculty of the Irish College of General Practitioners.
