Buttevant Medical Centre has proudly served the local community since 1967. Established by Dr Finbarr Kennedy, the practice was later taken over by his son, Dr Michael Kennedy, who continued its tradition of caring for generations of local patients.
In 2018, the practice received the GP Buddy National Rural Practice of the Year Award in recognition of its commitment to high-quality care and the local community.
Dr Ultan Duggan became Practice Principal in 2025, continuing the practice’s long-standing tradition of providing accessible, high-quality and compassionate care to patients and the wider community.
Today, our dedicated team comprises Dr Ultan Duggan, Dr Margaret Carey, Nurse Mary Riordan, and receptionists Eileen Palmer and Elizabeth Hynes. Together, we are committed to providing a friendly, professional and patient-centred service, with a strong emphasis on continuity of care and the wellbeing of our patients.
Buttevant Medical Centre is also a teaching practice affiliated with the UCC School of Medicine and the Cork Specialist Training Programme for General Practice. We are proud to contribute to the education and training of future doctors while continuing to provide high-quality care to our community.
