Buttevant Medical Centre has proudly served the local community for almost 60 years. Established in 1967 by Dr Finbarr Kennedy, the practice was later taken over by his son, Dr Michael Kennedy, who continued its tradition of caring for generations of local patients.In 2018, the practice was honoured with the GP Buddy National Rural Practice of the Year Award in recognition of its commitment to high-quality care and the local community.
In 2025, Dr Ultan Duggan became Practice Principal, continuing the practice’s long tradition of providing accessible, high-quality and compassionate care to patients and the wider community.
Today, our dedicated team comprises Dr Ultan Duggan, Dr Margaret Carey, Nurse Mary Riordan, and receptionists Eileen Palmer and Elizabeth Hynes. Together, we are committed to providing a friendly, professional and patient-centred service, with an emphasis on continuity of care and the wellbeing of our patients.
Buttevant Medical Centre is also a teaching practice attached to the UCC School of Medicine and to the Cork Specialist Training Programme for General Practice. We are proud to contribute to the education and training of the next generation of doctors while continuing to provide high-quality care to our community.

A specialised medical treatment which requires an assessment, physical examination, blood tests +/- other investigations. It is important to note that patients need to fast for 14-hours prior to schedule tests.
We provide safe and effective way of immunising babies and children against certain diseases. Our experienced nurse administers all immunisations under Doctor’s expert supervision.
